Variable Tensile Tester Power Pack with 24V Circuit Control

A custom variable tensile tester power pack was designed and delivered to support controlled tensile testing of materials, including evaluation of tensile strength, yield strength, and ductility. The system was developed to meet the client’s specific testing requirements and delivered under a complete design-and-build scope.

The solution incorporates a hydraulic power unit, two double-acting hydraulic cylinders, and a 24-volt electrical control circuit. Variable tensile forces are achieved through electro-proportional solenoid valve control, allowing precise, repeatable load application. The system is configured to operate the cylinders either independently or simultaneously, enabling single- or dual-sample testing within the same test setup.

This configuration addressed the key challenges of variable force control, multi-cylinder operation, and accurate electrical actuation required for reliable tensile testing across a range of materials and test conditions.

Our variable tensile testing system featured the following specifications:

  • Double Acting Cylinders:
    • 4 tonne force retraction capacity
    • Custom-made foot mounting as per our client’s specifications
    • 150mm - 170mm cylinder stroke
    • Ball valves to allow single cylinder use when required
    • Quick-release couplings for the cylinders
  • Power pack:
    • Single-phase electrical supply for the electric motor
    • Cetop directional control valve
    • Electro-proportional solenoid-controlled relief valve
    • Electro-proportional solenoid XMD controller
    • Hydraulic hoses
    • Hydraulic fluid tank
  • 24V DC Control Circuit:
    • 24V DC power supply
    • Pendant remote controller
      • 3-Meter pendant cord
      • Emergency Stop Button
      • Three position selector switch for directional control
      • Potentiometer for electro-proportional solenoid control
    • Junction Box
    • Electrical Wiring

Our custom-designed variable tensile tester provides several advantages:

  • Double-acting cylinders enable easy extension and retraction of the cylinders
    • Ball valves allow cylinders to be used simultaneously or individually, depending on the application
    • Quick release couplings allow for simple installation of hydraulic hoses when required
  • Electronic control circuit enables ease of operation, granting precise control of the tensile tester hydraulic system and improved overall functionality.
    • Cetop directional control valves provide directional control of hydraulic flow for the cylinders at the flick of a switch
    • Electro-proportional solenoid controller (XMD) allows precise adjustment of the cylinders' working pressure, allowing fine adjustment to the required tensile force for conducting material testing
  • Bluetooth mobile XMD controller can be used to set up the physical XMD controller, create user profiles and run diagnostics for troubleshooting, using a mobile phone.

The system enables adaptable test parameters for different materials and loading profiles, supporting accurate and repeatable results through precise pressure control and adjustable operating settings. With a robust 24-volt control system and consistent hydraulic performance, the solution provides safe, efficient, and flexible operation for material testing, quality assurance, and product development environments.
